Feasibility Study to Eradicate Aquatic Invasive/Nuisance Species in Canaan Lake, North Patchogue and Upper & Lower Lakes, Yaphank

This Feasibility Study officially began in September 2009 when Suffolk County Department of Environment & Energy finalized a contract with a team of scientists, planners and engineers led by Nelson, Pope & Voorhis (NP&V).  NP&V has met with the steering committees for each of the lakes and the Team has reviewed extensive prior information, collected and updated  existing conditions information for each lake (e.g. water quality, bathymetry, plant species and distribution), and is currently assessing options to manage nuisance plant species in these water bodies.  Conceptual fish passage designs for Upper & Lower Lake Dams on the Carmans River are also being prepared.
